Happy New Year!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉

It's 2019.

Can you BELIEVE it??!! 🤩

I absolutely cannot believe that 2018 has come and gone.. it feels like this past year flew by!

Exactly this time last year New Year's Day, I was prepping to press the button for our website to go live.  I had literally been up at least the last 24 hours straight (paused briefly to watch the ball drop on TV), and agonized over every. single. detail. . .yes, making myself crazy over whether it was as perfect as I'd envisioned.

Despite my grand hopes of the site dropping EXACTLY at midnight (yup. . I'd planned a super dramatic entrance, lol!), the site went live sometime that afternoon around 3pm.

I remember being absolutely delirious with exhaustion. . finger hovering over the button to finally "publish" the site. . and still agonizing whether it lived up to my perfectionist expectations.

But, I'd made myself a promise - this site was going live on January 1st.  POINT.  BLANK. PERIOD.

So. . I pushed the button.  Because I'd made a promise to myself that I wasn't about to break on the first day of the year (in my eyes that was starting off on the wrong foot).

I was so tired, I remember I literally couldn't keep my eyes open for one more second. . .so after I pushed the button, I politely logged off the site, closed my laptop, and climbed in bed for a few hours.

Was the site perfect? Nope.  (It still isn't 🤷🏽‍♀️)

But what I learned that day helped to shape many of my experiences in 2018, and probably one of my biggest lessons and findings about myself. . that I will nitpick, over-examine, and drag out an idea to deathhhhhhh 🧐 To the point where sometimes the "perfect" time comes and goes... because I'm still analyzing!

Will anything ever be perfect?

Nope.

Was it in my best interest to delay moving forward with my site until it was perfect?

Nope. (I probably would STILL have my finger on that button 🤣).

Was my labor-of-love site "perfect-enough"??. . . .

Yup.

I learned that in my life, PROGRESS will be king over PERFECTION every time.

And that there's beauty in learning and putting your work on display.  (Although I'd be lying if I said sometimes I look at things I did last year and don't cringe 🤣🤷🏽‍♀️).  It's all part of the process.

At the start of this New Year, I encourage you to really think about what it is in your life that's been put off for too long because the timing isn't "perfect". . .and to take it from me. .a self-proclaimed perfectionist (or I might be retired now, because perfectionism with 3 small children is a recipe for stand-up comedy). . .take a deep breath. . put your BOSS face on. . .and PRESS THE BUTTON!!

(and then if need be, log off, and pull the covers over your head. . .🤣🤷🏽‍♀️)

Happy New Year! 🎉🎉🎉

P.S. - And, I'm serious. . press that button👇🏽
